(Newser) – Sure, an apple is a nutrient-filled snack, but so is a chocolate-chip peanut butter energy bar, right? Cracked blows the whistle on eight tasty "health" foods that actually aren't so good for our heath:

  1. Vitamin Water: As if the fact that it's owned by Coca-Cola isn't enough of a red flag, a single bottle contains 32.5 grams of sugar, which is 2.5 grams more than in a Snickers bar.

  1. Granola bars: They may seem low calorie, but they're also low in something else—weight. Pound for pound, a 1.2-ounce Quaker Oats True Delights Bar has nearly the same amount of calories and fat as, yep, a Snickers.
  2. Fast food salads: When it comes to fat, calories, and sugar, Wendy's Double Stack Cheeseburger is a better choice than its Mandarin Chicken Salad.
  3. Protein shakes: Your body needs only 50 to 70 grams of protein a day, and most Americans get 100. So unless you're working out like a lunatic, your body will likely convert all that extra protein to fat.
