Meteorite Just Misses Cricket Fans
The meteorite hurtled to the ground from a clear blue sky over Sussex County Cricket Club's ground.   (?Loz Flowers)

Two British cricket fans nearly dropped their pints in shock when what's believed to be a space rock billions of years old hit the ground in front of them. The black, 5-inch rock split into two pieces as it hit the cricket pitch. Experts believe it is the first meteorite to hit Britain since 1992. The men have each kept a piece of the rock and say they'd be happy to have the bits analyzed by scientists.

"All of a sudden, out of a blue sky, we saw this small dark object hurtling towards us," one of the men tells the Telegraph. "It landed five yards inside the boundary and split into two pieces. One piece bounced up and hit me in the chest and the other ended up against the boundary board. It came across at quite a speed—if it had hit me full on it could have been very interesting."
