Lou Dobbs: Keep the 14th Amendment

He's fine with anchor babies

Even immigration uber-hawk Lou Dobbs thinks Republicans are going too far when they suggest repealing the 14th Amendment to prevent the children of illegal immigrants from gaining automatic citizenship. “The idea that anchor babies somehow require changing the 14th Amendment, I part ways with the senators on that, because I believe the 14th Amendment … is so important,” he said in a Fox interview.

“We have a law in which they become American citizens for being born here,” Dobbs went on. “If you’re going to insist upon the rule of law and order—and I do—I have to insist that we recognize these anchor babies as US citizens.” Another GOP senator jumped on the repeal bandwagon yesterday, with Jeff Sessions saying natural citizenship “makes no sense,” to many Americans, the Huffington Post reports.
