A hermaphrodite terrier mix named Georgie has had gender reassignment surgery in an effort to make her more adoptable. Georgie, who was born with both male and female sexual organs, had her male organs removed and is now a true bitch (female dog, that is). The UK stray has recovered well from the surgery and is now seeking a new home, the BBC reports. (Click the link for a photo.)

"Georgie received a lot of interest but when people found out she had both male and female organs they backed away," said the manager of Manchester Dogs' Home. "She is a very soft and sweet dog and would make a lovely pet." She added that hermaphrodite dogs are "very rare, especially in cross breeds." (More dogs stories.)
