How much more extreme can cooking get? Not much now that a black metal chef cooking with the "heat of Satan" has moved onto YouTube. Thank God he's not a cannibal. The Vegan Black Metal Chef wields sharp instruments of terror that look like torture tools to brutalize his meat-free ingredients during prep time while metal pulsates in the background, the Washington Post reports. A video of him cooking up Pad Thai has already gone viral, racking up more than 1 million views, and he's working on his second episode. “People have said, ‘You should put this on the Food Network,'" says the Vegan Black Metal Chef, nee Brian Manowitz. “I don’t know if the Food Network would really be interested.”

Manowitz is part of a burgeoning YouTube breed of crazed chefs who are nearing the edge of the edgiest. They cook with "insanity, with unnerving intensity, and sometimes with power tools" with a drive initially inspired by Japan's Iron Chef program, notes the Post. It's id releasing. "Let's do it how you really want," says one chef who hosts mega-caloric Epic Meal episodes on YouTube. "Not how society pretends it wants to eat, but how that little fatty inside of you wants to eat.” It's far from heartless, though, at least for the Vegan Black Metal Chef, whose over-the-top cooking costume is all rubber, not leather, because he loves animals.
