With less than a week to go until Dominique Strauss-Kahn's next court hearing, a leaked hospital report has reopened hostilities between his lawyers and those of the maid who says he attacked her. Medical notes from Nafissatou Diallo's first visit to a hospital after the May incident state: "Cause of the injuries: Assault. Rape," Reuters reports. "The medical records are pretty powerful," her lawyer says. "Forensics don't lie. That's the bottom line."

The former IMF chief's lawyers, however, say using the report is "misleading and deceitful" because it's "based almost exclusively on the word of the complaining witness, who has been proven, time and again, not to be credible." The lawyers note that the report does not describe any injuries consistent with a forcible sexual encounter. Strauss-Kahn is back in court Aug. 23, when prosecutors are expected to tell a judge whether they have decided to proceed with a trial. (More Nafissatou Diallo stories.)
