So where did Martin Van Buren come from? He's the only US president that doesn't share a common ancestor, according to a 12-year-old California girl who spent months combing through scores of names and family histories. BridgeAnne d'Avignon has put together a family tree for the commanders-in-chief, and found that all but Van Buren are related to King John of England, reports WFMY News.

D'Avignon's effort is quite a feat—before her tree, historians were only able to link 22 presidents' ancestries. And the girl made an interesting discovery along the way—it turns out she's President Obama's distant cousin. (Click to read more about Obama's roots.)
