Did Marissa Mayer Just Buy a Funeral Home?

Is Marissa Mayer getting out of the tech business and into the ... death business? Probably not, but sources at Palo Alto's oldest funeral home tell the Palo Alto Weekly that the Yahoo CEO just bought their 1.16-acre property, a block away from her home. But the funeral home's current owner tells the New York Post that he doesn't know who bought the property, because it was done through an LLC.

He did say, however, that Mayer often rents out the home's parking lot for parties, and some detective work by the Post found that the LLC in question shares an address with another that lists Marissa Mayer as an officer. But last time Mayer was linked to an outlandish purchase, it turned out to be false. In September, several news outlets reported that she had purchased "the most expensive house in San Francisco history." Mayer later denied the story via Twitter. (More Marissa Mayer stories.)
