Police say a 19-year-old in Delaware got shot twice after diving in front of his mother to shield her from the bullets, reports NBC Philadelphia. Both survived. Authorities say Roderick Buckworth and his mother, Patricia, were in their apartment in Pine Creek when a downstairs neighbor burst through the door and opened fire. With Patricia sleeping in her bedroom, Roderick ran into the room, shoved a dresser against the door, and then dove in front of his mother, reports the Delaware News Journal.

He took two bullets, and his mother was shot once, and both are now recovering. They both escaped the apartment when the gunman stopped firing, and the shooter killed himself before officers arrived, say police. The Buckworths say they didn't know the neighbor and have no idea why he attacked them. "He saved his mother's life," a family friend says of Roderick. "He's a hero." (More uplifting news stories.)
