Stocks are ending mixed after a day of wavering between small gains and losses as investors pore over a big batch of company earnings reports. McDonald's dropped 4.5%, the biggest loss in the Dow Jones industrial average, after the hamburger chain reported disappointing sales growth in the US, the AP reports. Texas Instruments jumped 8% after the technology company reported quarterly results that were better than anticipated. The Dow lost 19 points, or 0.1%, to 18,473, weighed down by the drop in McDonald's. The Standard & Poor's 500 index edged up less than a point to 2,169. The Nasdaq composite rose 12 points, or 0.2%, to 5,110. (More Dow Jones stories.)
