Reddit User Thrilled With Trump's Wrestling Video Tweet
The clip was originally titled "Trump takes down fake news."   (YouTube)

The video at the center of yet another President Trump controversy appears to have originated on Reddit, where user HanA**holeSolo has become the toast of the r/The_Donald community. The video, a clip from a 2007 WWE event with CNN's logo replacing the head of Vince McMahon as he is pummeled by Trump, was tweeted by the president Sunday with alterations including added sound. "Wow!! I never expected my meme to be retweeted by the God Emporer (sic) himself!!!" the Reddit user said, receiving hearty congratulations from fellow users who believed the tweet proves Trump is an avid reader of the alt-right subreddit, Business Insider reports.

Users of r/The_Donald, which has more than 440,000 members, noted that the video will now be in the White House archives. "Han" has been on Reddit for around a year and has posted about stabbing Muslims, among other things, reports the Washington Post, which couldn't find any versions of the clip older than the one "Han" posted on Wednesday. The video "is an unorthodox way for a sitting president to express himself," the New York Times notes, but while critics accused Trump of encouraging violence against journalists, defenders including Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert say he has a "right to respond" to cable networks and is a "genuine president expressing himself genuinely."
