She told her rescuers her dad had gone swimming. Those were the heartbreaking words of a toddler found drifting in a boat in Texas' Lake Granbury on Friday morning, about 16 hours after she and her father had set off for a boat ride. Per NBC Los Angeles, local deputies say 36-year-old Oscar Monjaras Robledo and his 3-year-old daughter had launched their small ski boat from the Granbury City Beach Boat Ramp at around 5pm Thursday. Hood County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Johnny Rose tells CBS Dallas/Fort Worth that a resident who lives near the docks on the lake heard a cellphone ringing around 9am Friday, and when he went out to check on the sound, he saw the boat, and then the little girl inside it.

"Thank God it was [in the] morning when he found the child, with this oppressive heat," Rose says, who adds the girl was found in "good condition," per CNN. Tragically, after an hourslong search, Robledo's body was found not far from where his daughter was discovered, about 60 feet from the shoreline. An autopsy is being conducted, but authorities don't suspect suicide or foul play. Rose says it's likely Robledo didn't anchor the boat before he jumped in for a swim and that he and the boat then got swept away in a current. (More toddler stories.)
