After Fox News host Chris Wallace clashed with House Minority Whip Steve Scalise over the impeachment inquiry in an interview Sunday, President Trump called him "nasty" and said he would never measure up to his father, late 60 Minutes lead reporter Mike Wallace. Scalise "blew the nasty & obnoxious Chris Wallace (will never be his father, Mike!) away on Chris’s lowest rated (unless I’m on) morning show," Trump tweeted, adding that "this kind of dumb and unfair interview" never used to happen on Fox. During the interview, Wallace took issue with Scalise's description of impeachment inquiry witnesses as Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff's witnesses, noting that they were all people who had worked in the Trump administration, USA Today reports.

Wallace also noted that Trump never said the word "corruption" during his July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and corrected Scalise when he said the call only involved Trump and Zelensky. More than a dozen people listened in, and some of them were "immediately upset," Wallace said. Among them was Mike Pence aide and career foreign service officer Jennifer Williams, who said in closed-door testimony released Saturday that she found the call "inappropriate." In another tweet Sunday, Trump attacked Williams "whoever that is" as a "Never Trumper" and told her to read the transcripts of the call she had listened to, the Hill reports.
