(Newser) – After President Trump's so-called "Friday night massacre," in which he fired two impeachment witnesses plus the twin brother of one of those witnesses, at least one person is suggesting the president be impeached again: George Conway, the famously anti-Trump husband of Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway. The president himself first drew attention to the possibility, saying last week after he was acquitted that the Democrats would "probably have to do it again." And in a Washington Post column Monday, George Conway says he's right. Trump, Conway argues, basically admitted the firings were retaliatory when he tweeted that Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who was fired alongside his twin brother and US Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland, "was very insubordinate, reported contents of my 'perfect' calls incorrectly."

"If this were a criminal investigation, and Alexander Vindman and Sondland had given their testimony to a grand jury, this Friday Night Massacre could have been a crime," Conway writes. "At the very least, it ought to be impeachable." A separate Post piece takes on the question of whether Trump can even be impeached again; the short answer is yes, but Amber Phillips doubts Democrats would want to. Politifact notes that a viral Facebook post in January claimed Nancy Pelosi had promised to impeach Trump again if he was acquitted, but the House speaker never actually made such a statement. While another impeachment may not be imminent, more firings might be: Per Politico, Conway's wife was asked Monday on Fox & Friends whether more dismissals were coming, and she responded with "maybe."
