Instagram has placed restrictions on Kanye West's account in response to posts criticized as anti-Semitic. A spokesperson for Meta, Instagram's parent company, told the Hollywood Reporter that the platform also has deleted some content posted on the @kanyewest account. Instagram said the restrictions were imposed for violations of its polices. That action can temporarily keep users from writing comments, sharing posts, or sending direct messages. The platform did not specify what the offending content was.

But the rapper had shared a screenshot Friday of an exchange of texts that he said he'd had with Sean "Diddy" Combs. West, who now goes by "Ye," added the caption, "Jesus is Jew." That was taken to mean Jewish people are controlling Combs, an allusion to an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory, per NBC News. The American Jewish Committee labeled the post, which has been deleted, anti-Semitic in a video. "These posts are dangerous," reads the caption of the committee's post. The video includes comments that West is employing "anti-Semitic tropes like greed and control" in his posts, as well as in a Fox News interview that aired Friday night. Ye moved his posting to Twitter, with one Saturday morning calling out Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's CEO, for the Instagram restrictions. (More Kanye West stories.)
