J.P. Jepp holds Autumn Jepp, Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at a hospital in Great Falls, Mont., one of the identical quadruplets his wife Karen Jepp gave birth to Sunday afternoon, Aug. 12, 2007. A  Canadan woman delivered four identical daughters in a Montana hospital last weekend, when there were no neonatal beds for them in the local hospital in Calgary—or any other Canadian hospital. The newborns, born by C-section at 31 1/2 weeks, ranged from 2 lbs., 6 oz. to 2 lbs., 15 oz. but were able to breathe on their own and are now doing fine.

The odds of giving birth to naturally conceived identical quadruplets is one in 13 million, reports the Calgary Herald. Canada’s last identical quadruplets were born in 1982. The doctors dubbed the quads A,B,C, and D, which the parents, J.P. and Karen Jepp, converted to Autumn, Brooke, Calissa and Dahlia. The babies are being flown back to Calgary today for about 6 more weeks of hospital care. (More quadruplets stories.)
