UK Home Secretary Jacqui Smith will resign her post, the Times of London reports, in an effort to hang onto her seat in parliament despite the expense scandal swirling around her. Smith has been badly embarrassed by revelations that she had charged taxpayers for her family home, several digital cameras, an iPod, a personal accountant, and, most embarrassingly, five porn movies her husband watched.

The expenses scandal has been mowing down British politicians; three more Labor MPs announced that they would stand down in the next election today. Gordon Brown has promised to reshuffle his cabinet, but hasn’t yet announced names; No. 10 dismissed the Smith report as “speculation.” Alistair Darling is also expected to be ousted from Treasury, though he might get another cabinet job.
