Yahoo users can now read and write tweets from within Yahoo: A few months after making a similar deal with Facebook, the Internet giant is bringing Twitter into the fold in its struggle to fend off the threat to its ad sales posed by social networking sites. Yahoo search engine results will now include relevant tweets, echoing similar capabilities that rivals Google and Microsoft gained in their own deals with Twitter last year.

The price Yahoo paid Twitter for the deal is being kept under wraps, but Microsoft and Google reportedly paid a combined $25 million for their Twitter rights. In a sign of the growing threat posed by networking sites, Facebook last month became the second most popular website in the US, knocking Yahoo down to third place.
