Chilling photos of Princess Diana peering at paparazzi pursuers minutes before her fatal car wreck were released to the public for the first time yesterday as an inquest into her death began. The London hearing will determine "once and for all" whether the crash was an accident or part of an assassination plot, a claim advanced by the the father of Di's boyfriend Dodi Fayed, who also died in the wreck.

Mohamed Fayed claims Diana was pregnant when she died and about to announce her engagement to his son. Fayed believes the royals "couldn't accept that an Egyptian Muslim could eventually be stepfather to the future king of England," the coroner told the inquest jury yesterday. In fact, many people believe Diana's death was the result of "something sinister," he said. (More Princess Diana stories.)
