6 Weird, Pricey Foods

You may have heard of kopi luwak, the coffee brewed from civet poop that sells for $30 a cup. In case you’d like some more bizarre, extravagant food to go along with that…interesting-sounding cup of coffee, The Frisky lists five ideas:

• Bird Spit Soup: Made from the nests of Swiftlet birds, which use lots of saliva while building their homes. A bowl can cost up to $100.

• Golden Opulence Sundae: New York restaurant Serendipity added truffles, edible gold, and something called “dessert caviar” to this $1,000 dessert.
• The $1,000 Bagel: Available at the New York Westin Hotel, this breakfast pastry includes white truffle cream cheese and gold leaf jelly.
