A missing 13-year-old Texas middle-schooler told her grandma she was afraid of her mother's new boyfriend who often lurked in her bedroom doorway and watched her. Hailey Dunn has been missing for nearly three weeks. Her mom's boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, walked off his job the day of her disappearance, and phone records place him in the vicinity of the family's house in Colorado City when Hailey was home alone, according to investigators. "Hailey did not like him. She was afraid of him and she didn't want him there," Hailey's paternal grandmother, Connie Jones, told ABC News.

Hailey could see Adkins' "shadow at her door" at night, said Jones. "She said, 'Nana, he scared me. I'm afraid he's going to come in there." Hailey's mom and Adkins, who are no longer together, have both failed polygraph tests on Hailey's disappearance, according to cops. Investigators found printouts of at least 16 different articles related to sex crimes and serial killings in their home, some of them involving adolescents, according to court affidavits. Hailey's mom told police her interest in the crimes was a "hobby," reports the Washington Post. (More crime stories.)
