(Newser) – Lindsay Lohan pleaded not guilty today to felony grand theft of a $2,500 necklace—a case that could return the starlet to jail rather than the big screen. She'll be freed on $40,000 bail and is due back in court on Feb. 23. Prosecutors claim the 24-year-old starlet took the necklace in January while on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case.

"You're in a different situation now that a felony has been filed against you," said Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz. "If you violate the law, I will remand you and set no bail and your attorney won't be successful this time. ... You need to follow the laws just like everybody else. ... You're no different than anyone else, so please don't push your luck." Click for more. (Read more Lindsay Lohan stories.)
