The Arizona Wildcats didn't start their season well, struggling at times to pull off a 76-69 victory against unranked Northern Arizona. AU has 24 straight wins against NAU, but playing without coach Lute Olsen caused some faltering last night, with NAU outshooting and outrebounding the Wildcats, reports the Arizona Republic. Elsewhere in the world of NCAA hoops:

  • In spite of patchy free-throw shooting and constant turnovers, No. 14 Gonzaga decimated Idaho, 80-43.
  • No. 2 UCLA didn't break a sweat beating CS-San Bernardino 76-41 to advance to the CBE semifinals.
  • Oral Roberts threatened No. 15 A&M longer than expected, but eventually fell 67-53 in the NIT Season Tip-Off.
