(Newser) – A Saudi woman is being detained by police after a bold YouTube protest against the ultra-conservative nation's ban on female drivers. Manal al-Sharif, 32, tools around the city of Khobar in a video posted on YouTube that's now been seen by some 600,000 fans. Sharif was busted Saturday, then released, but has now been detained again, reports the Independent. Sharif learned to drive in the US, and has a Facebook page urging a massive driving protest June 17. Saudi Arabia is the only nation in the world that bans women from driving: Though no law explicitly bars women from driving, they are denied driver's licenses. Religious conservatives say female drivers would erode moral values. (Read more Manal al-Sharif stories.)
