The search is on for a missing 4-month-old girl in Michigan whose father is suspected of kidnapping her, reports ABC News. Katherine Shelbie-Elizabeth Phillips has been missing since Wednesday when her father—21-year-old National Guardsman Sean Phillips—allegedly ran off with her following an argument with the infant's mother, 19-year-old Ariel Courtland. Phillips has since been arrested, but police found no sign of "Baby Kate."

Courtland doesn't think Phillips harmed the child, but she fears he may not reveal the baby's location. "I think, if anything, he just left her somewhere," she says. Police searched Phillips' house, and the Coast Guard has been called in to survey a nearby lake. "She is small," says the county prosecutor. "But it's not like it's January or 20 below zero. Hopefully, we can find her safely if she's been left outside or in the wild." (More child kidnapping stories.)
