Astronomer Gets Cameron to Re-Shoot Titanic Scene

Remember the scene in Titanic in which Kate Winslet clings to a piece of wood, promising Leonardo DiCaprio that she'll "never let go?" (And then she lets go?) Well, apparently, the stars shown in the night sky during that scene were all wrong. But never fear: James Cameron has fixed the problem, ensuring the stars will be seen in their correct positions in the upcoming 3D version of the film.

Cameron re-shot the scene after much haranguing from astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson, who pointed out that the stars' positions were not accurate, based on where they would actually have been at 4:20am on April 15, 1912. Cameron, a bit of a science geek himself, admitted that he re-did the scene after receiving a "quite snarky" email—and a star map—from Tyson on the matter, the Telegraph reports.
