Kidnapping Suspect Thinks Girls Are His Kids

(Newser) – Adam Mayes' thinks the two girls he allegedly snatched are his biological children, his mother-in-law tells the AP. And that conviction was apparently causing friction between Mayes and his wife, Teresa—both of whom have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the murder of the girls' mother and older sister. Josie Tate says Teresa "was tired of him doting on those two little girls that he claimed were his."

Teresa was apparently incapable of having her own kids, reports the AP. In a previous interview, Tate's other daughter, Bobbi Booth, revealed that Teresa believed her husband was having an affair with the girls' mother, Jo Ann Bain. He was often at their home, and friends say the girls considered him an uncle. Mayes was added to the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List yesterday. (Read more Teresa Mayes stories.)
