San Diego police shot and injured a 20-year-old domestic violence suspect yesterday in a movie theater, reports the Union Tribune. Tom Billodeaux is expected to recover from wounds to his arm and chest, and will face charges. Billodeaux had earlier left a suicide note, and confronted an ex-girlfriend with a handgun before fleeing across the street to the mall that houses the movie theater. Police responding to a 911 call found the suspect there. He at first appeared to surrender, says a police spokesman, then raised the handgun in his hand. Police felt they were in jeopardy, says the spokesman, “and more importantly, they thought the lives of others were in jeopardy,” and fired.

“We saw four cops with assault rifles go by us, toward the theater,” says a witness. “Moments later, a lady came in here and said she had heard a gunshot.” (More gunman stories.)
