The brother of 8-year-old Leila Fowler has pleaded not guilty in her death, his lawyer says. The California 12-year-old, whose name hasn't been released because of his age, appeared in juvenile court yesterday, lawyer Mark Reichel said, per CNN. "I say he is innocent," Reichel said. On July 31, he says, they'll return to court to set a trial date. "We are getting into the issue of whether a 12-year-old can ever be put on trial for murder." The boy's family has been supportive, and he's "doing OK under tough circumstances," Reichel said. Click for more on the murder, which was originally blamed on an intruder the boy claimed to have seen. (More Leila Fowler stories.)
