There was no upset for Virginia Tech this time, as Duke rode an 18-9 second-half run to an easy 81-64 victory in front of a disappointed Hokies crowd. Two top-ten Blue Devils teams have fallen to Virginia Tech since the latter's move to the ACC three years ago. Also in ranked college hoops:

  • No. 15 Butler shut down Loyola of Chicago early, getting 15 points from Pete Campbell in the 63-50 victory.
  • No. 23 Xavier ambushed No. 16 Dayton, who shot just 30% in the 69-43 upset.
