The Butler's long run at the top of the box office charts finally came to an end this weekend, with Vin Diesel's Riddick debuting to the tune of $18.7 million to take the No. 1 spot. On the historically slow weekend after Labor Day, it was easily enough to topple The Butler's $8.9 million haul, the AP reports. But it wasn't enough to out-do the previous installment of this sci-fi series, The Chronicles of Riddick, which opened to $24.3 million in 2004. At No. 3 was the Spanish-language Instructions Not Included ($8.1 million), followed by We're the Millers ($7.9 million), and Planes ($4.3 million).
