A Tennessee man has been arrested at New York's Kennedy International Airport after checking luggage containing a loaded, defaced rifle and other firearms, authorities say. Keenan Draughon was caught this morning trying to board a flight to Charlotte, North Carolina, after Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police found the weapons. A police spokesman says Draughon also had high-capacity magazines, which are illegal in New York.

US Transportation Security Administration rules allow only unloaded weapons in checked luggage. No weapons are allowed in carry-on luggage. The spokesman says the serial numbers on two rifles were defaced. He says Draughon was also carrying two handguns in his checked luggage. The 23-year-old Clarksville man is being held pending an arraignment. (Read more rifle stories.)
