Hunter Gandee has been carrying around his little brother Braden "ever since he got too heavy for my mom," the 14-year-old says. That's meant heaving the now-7-year-old piggyback-style around the house and even on mountains during camping trips, The Stir reports. But this weekend, he'll go a bit further. In what he's calling his Cerebral Palsy Swagger project, Hunter, an avid wrestler, will walk 40 miles, carrying his brother in a special sling, ABC News reported last month. He's doing it to raise awareness about the condition Braden was diagnosed with at 3 months old, Hunter tells The Stir in a new interview.
"Braden’s my inspiration," Hunter says. "He's helped me through tough times. He's always there for me. It means a lot to be able to give back to him and to give back to other people who have cerebral palsy." His campaign won't end with the walk. "I want to be a biomedical engineer. I want to build a suit that's like a brace that will allow him to move and lift his muscles slightly for him and show him correct movements," Hunter says.
