Italian place thinks people are missing the point of eating together

Leave the phone. Take the cannoli. An Italian restaurant near Buffalo is making a point about smartphones with a new incentive: Steer clear of them during dinner and get a 10% discount. The deal at Lebro's is good only on Sundays, and co-owner Lee Federiconi tells the Daily News that about 20% of patrons are taking advantage. Those who do so must put their phones in a covered bread basket and resist the urge to check email, tweet, or shoot a quick Instagram photo of their meal. “Why do you even go out to dinner? It’s a one chance to have one-on-one conversation with somebody," explains Federiconi. "This was just a little challenge to get people reconnecting.” (Read more smartphones stories.)
