If you're planning to apply for one of 10 open positions at startup Practichem, expect plenty of competition. The scientific instruments maker based in Raleigh, NC, says it will lease Tesla Model 3s for each of its more than 15 full-time staff members, plus new recruits. It's a reward for a team that "has done more with our few people ... than our competitors who have been entrenched forever," CEO Nick DeMarco tells the Raleigh News & Observer. But "it doesn’t hurt to get publicity when we’re trying to hire more people."

"Practichem builds technologies to accelerate open science and help find cures for horrific diseases," DeMarco adds in a release. "We are always looking for brilliant engineers who want to contribute to something important." DeMarco says the Tesla incentive is "probably the most cost-effective way to do good recruiting" and is "much cheaper" than using headhunters. "I've never had a vehicle that was less than 20 years old, so having a new car is world-changing in a way," says one employee. The cars are expected to arrive late next year. (More Tesla stories.)
