Katy Perry blamed a "family emergency" when she canceled a planned Thursday concert in China at the last minute, but many Chinese fans are rolling their eyes at that excuse and pointing to Hillary Clinton's unexpected loss in the US presidential election as the real reason Perry couldn't perform, Quartz reports. "I really understand how she feels now. She has been spending her whole year for Hillary’s campaign," posted one sympathetic fan on Weibo, China's popular social media service.

But not everyone felt bad for Perry: "Hillary Clinton is your family member? I am so disappointed on your unprofessional behavior and will not listen to any of your songs in the future," says one. Another, who is apparently familiar with Perry's family background, wrote: "It must be because her Parents voted for Trump, that’s why she is too sad to come." (More Katy Perry stories.)
