One of the five victims in Friday's deadly workplace shooting in Aurora, Ill., was a college student who had started an internship at the Henry Pratt Company that very day. Trevor Wehner, 21, was set to graduate from Northern Illinois University in May with a degree in human resource management. Reuters reports he wasn't the only victim with NIU ties: Human resources manager Clay Parks, a 2014 NIU graduate who took a job with the company in November, was also killed. The other victims were plant manager Josh Pinkard, mold operator Russell Beyer, and stock room attendant and fork lift operator Vicente Juarez. The city has started an #AuroraStrong campaign on GoFundMe to support the victims' families; it has raised $33,000 as of this writing.

The AP reports that police on Saturday said that after being told he was fired from his job of 15 years for "various workplace rules violations," Gary Martin killed the three people who were in the room with him at the time; the other two men who were killed were right outside the room. He then fled to the back of the warehouse, where he was killed by police an hour later. "He was probably waiting for us to get to him there," Aurora police Lt. Rick Robertson says. "It was just a very short gunfight and it was over, so he was basically in the back waiting for us and fired upon us and our officers fired." Police have said Martin was "absolutely ... not" supposed to have a gun. (More on that here.)
