The long-awaited trailer for Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, was posted Wednesday morning, with an advance sneak peek Tuesday at CinemaCon—and per reaction rounded up by USA Today, the film looks to be "absolutely not like any 'comic book' movie that has come before," per one viewer. The two-minute-plus clip for the DC Comics film directed by Todd Phillips shows Phoenix as Batman villain Arthur Fleck, described by IMDb as a "failed stand-up comedian [who's] driven insane and becomes a psychopathic murderer." Based on the preview, the film is already being described as "disturbing," "intense," "chilling," and "a dark and twisted character study." Get creeped out for yourself above in the video gallery or here. The movie debuts Oct. 4. (A much lighter trailer made headlines last month.)
