Peggy Lipton, the star of Mod Squad and Twin Peaks, has died of cancer at the age of 72, reports CNN. Lipton was nominated for four Emmys and won a Golden Globe for her role on Mod Squad, but was also part of another piece of entertainment royalty: She was married to Quincy Jones from 1974 to 1990, and is mother to actresses Rashida Jones and Kidada Jones. The Los Angeles Times notes that after marrying Jones, Lipton stepped away from Hollywood to raise their daughters, finding fame uncomfortable. After their divorce, she returned to television and found new success with Twin Peaks. Lipton's daughters said in a statement that she "made her journey peacefully." "Peggy was, and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us," her daughters' statement read. (More obituary stories.)
