(Newser) – The Gayle King-Snoop Dogg war appears to be over. NBC News reports the CBS This Morning co-host has accepted an apology from the repentant rapper after he excoriated her on social media for bringing up rape charges against the late Kobe Bryant during an interview with WNBA star Lisa Leslie. A clip of the question went viral when CBS released a trailer for the sit-down, and many Bryant fans (Snoop included) didn't like that King had asked that question. Snoop's rant against King also went viral, though he says after talking to his mom, he realized he'd overreacted and publicly offered a sorry up to King.

"I accept the apology and understand the raw emotions caused by this tragic loss," King now says in a statement. She has said she didn't know the promo was going to be edited to show that part of the interview out of context, and she apparently didn't handle the backlash well afterward. King spoke to that as well in her statement, noting that "as a journalist, it is sometimes challenging to balance doing my job with the emotions and feelings during difficult times," per the Hill. Still, while she says "I don't always get it perfect ... I'm constantly striving to do it with compassion and integrity." (Read more Gayle King stories.)
