(Newser) – Police in Portugal plan to end their investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in the next two weeks because of a lack of evidence, the AP reports. The parents of the British girl, who went missing while on a family vacation last May, will continue their own search, said a family spokesman. Police could reopen the case if new evidence surfaces.

"Kate and Gerry will never give up the search for their daughter." (Read more Madeleine McCann stories.)
