Police today charged the husband of a missing Army officer with first-degree murder in her death, the Fayetteville Observer reports. Authorities discovered a charred corpse, believed to be the body of 2nd Lt. Holly Wimunc, yesterday near Camp Lejeune, NC. The husband, a marine, is stationed there. He and an alleged accomplice also face arson charges.

Wimunc, 24, who served at Fort Bragg, disappeared Thursday. Her home had been set ablaze. Investigators found a mutilated corpse in the woods near Camp Lejeune yesterday, along with bladed weapons. Her father confirmed today that the body was hers. She was seeking a divorce from Cpl. John Wimunc and had filed a restraining order against him. (More Holley Wimunc stories.)
