Mystery man Clark Rockefeller's attorney says his client can now remember living as Christopher Chichester in Los Angeles, the Boston Herald reports. Rockefeller—identified by prosecutors as a German national named Christian Gerhartsreiter—can recall living with a couple who subsequently vanished but insists he had nothing to do with the disappearance, the lawyer says.

Rockefeller had used a fake name in an effort to try and get into the acting business, his attorney claims. He said the kidnap suspect, believed have come to the US as an exchange student in 1978, has no recollection of a German childhood. "He just has no memory of that," the attorney said. "A lot of these things, he can't absolutely deny them, but he doesn't remember them." (More Christopher Chichester stories.)
