The Mets bested the Dodgers last night, squeezing out a 5-4 comeback in extra innings. After LA closer Jonathan Broxton surrendered the lead late, New York sub Chip Ambres recorded the winning RBI in the tenth, and Billy Wagner booked his 22nd save to seal a 4-3 series edge for New York.

El Duque gave up four in his no-decision, including a Nomar Garciaparra two-run blast in the sixth that saved the inning for the Dodgers. "It's an outstanding win on the road, a great gutsy win," manager Willy Randolph beamed. Ambres, the night's unlikely hero, was only recently activated from New Orleans AAA, though with Moises Alou slated to come off the DL, he may find himself back in the bayou.
