Man Attacks Lottery-Winning Sex Offender
Alec Ahsoak, the man who won the lottery, and then was attacked in Anchorage yesterday.

The convicted sex offender who won an Alaskan lottery that benefited sex-assault victims was severely beaten yesterday in broad daylight near a mall in downtown Anchorage, the Anchorage Daily News reports. It’s unclear if the 20-year-old California man charged in the crime attacked Alec Ahsoak, 53, because of offender status, but police said there was no attempt at robbery. Ahsoak was treated for head injuries and released.

According to police, the alleged attacker and two women approached Ahsoak and asked if he was indeed the man who’d won the $500,000 jackpot of the lottery to benefit the sex-abuse charity. When he replied that he was, the man allegedly beat him with a tire iron or metal pipe.
