The president's first summer vacation is to a classified destination, but on the streets and beaches of Martha's Vineyard, it's no secret that Barack, Michelle, and their daughters are spending August on the island. The first family is expected to stay in Oak Bluffs, a longtime vacation spot for the black elite. The low-key commander in chief is planning nothing like Bill Clinton's celebrity-studded Vineyard holidays, reports the New York Times.

Clinton hit nine parties in less than two weeks during one of his trips, while the Obamas are expected to keep to themselves. The White House is giving nothing away, wary of the damage that George W. Bush suffered for his frequent getaways to Crawford. But Obama's predecessor was no fan of the Massachusetts island. Asked why he preferred the Texas sun, Bush said: "Most Americans don’t sit in Martha’s Vineyard, swilling white wine." (More Barack Obama stories.)
