Jon Stewart thinks he's discovered the real reason Republicans don't like Elena Kagan. After poring over clips of her confirmation hearings—in which they made sidelong references to her "background" and "beliefs" and New York upbringing, Stewart cracked, "Let's cut to the chase: You're a Jew! You're from Jew-sylvania! Your favorite candy is Jew-Jew-Be! You love to play Jew-manji. Your favorite musical is... all of them."

But score 1 for Kagan: When asked by Sen. Lindsey Graham where she was on Christmas Day—ostensibly in relation to the Christmas Day bomber—she deadpanned: "You know, like all Jews I was probably in a Chinese restaurant." Stewart also poked fun at the Republicans for demonizing Thurgood Marshall. "That's your Bill Ayers? That's your Rev. Wright?" Then, dropping into what we can only assume is his "Republican voice," he added, "Miss Kagan, I see here you're also a fan of this Martin Luther King Jr. Are you aware the FBI considers him a Communist?"
