Politician Photographs His Own Killer
This is the photo Reynaldo Dagsa snapped of his killer moments before his death. The original photograph showed Dagsa's smiling family, but they asked that it be cropped to protect their identities.   (AP Photo/Reynaldo Dagsa,)

A city councilman in the Philippines may have helped catch his own killer. Councilman Reynaldo Dagsa was shot on New Year’s Eve, right as he was taking a picture of his celebrating family. The photo he took clearly shows a man aiming a gun from behind the family, bracing himself against their car, which has its lights on. His face is partially obscured by the gun.

Police have now arrested two suspects based on that photo, the AP reports, one the alleged shooter, and the other the man police say was his lookout, who is also visible in the image. Police say the main suspect is a car thief whose arrest Dagsa ordered last year. Dagsa’s wife and daughter say he had just woken up—he asked them to rouse him in time for midnight—and say they didn't hear the gunshot because of all the firecrackers going off around them.
