(Newser) – Tea Partiers are taking their fight to state halls around the country, and Justin Elliott over at Salon rounds up some of the more creative pieces of legislation they've put on the table. Without ado:

  • Screw you, Uncle Sam: Montana also is considering at least six bills that would nullify federal legislation, including health reform, gun control, and the Endangered Species Act. Elliott notes that the last time similar laws were introduced, a little thing called the Civil War resulted.
  • No gays: The "Religious Conscience Protection Act" would make it legal for Iowans to essentially discriminate against anyone "involved in a marriage that violates his or her religious convictions."
  • Show and Tell for Barack: Connecticut is considering legislation to force presidential and vice presidential candidates to show their birth certificates; it would cover President Obama's 2012 bid.
