Hawaiian Alvin Wong is the happiest person in America, based on Gallup data, but what about the unhappiest? The New York Times, using the same statistics relating to well-being, has found her, or at least described her. The least happy person in the US is a short, middle-aged, childless Muslim woman who is separated from her husband and earns less than $12,000 year.

She lives in West Virginia and is an unemployed manufacturing worker, according to the Times, which notes that there may not be any person out there who meets all the criteria—and if such a person does exist, she may not be as miserable as the statistics suggest.
